College Admission Testing

FPD students perform well on tests used for college admissions. Over a 6 year average, 30% or more of our students score above 600 on each part of the SAT—verbal and mathematics.

Since 1975, ninety-eight students have been recognized for achievement by the National Merit Scholarship Program, including 30 finalists.


Advanced Placement Courses

FPD students have the opportunity to earn college credit through acceptable performance on the College Board Advanced Placement Examinations. We offer AP courses in Biology, Calculus AB & BC, US History, European History, English Literature and English Composition and Latin. This year 88 students will be taking a total of 173 exams.

Elementary Standardized Achievement Tests

In our elementary school, students take the norm-referenced Stanford Achievement Test in the spring.  At each grade level, more that two-thirds of our students score among the top 25% of students nationally (i.e., above the third quartile).


Graduate Profile

The Class of 2005

The 72 members of the Class of 2005 enrolled as college freshmen at 26 different colleges, universities or postsecondary institutions in 7 different states. 79% enrolled in 18 different colleges and universities with Georgia while 22% enrolled in 7 colleges in 6 other states.

This class has also provided academic leadership. The two students who set the bar for academic excellence were Jared Ivey, our Valedictorian, a Commended Student and the recipient of a Ga. Tech alumni scholarship and Noelle Slager, our Salutatorian, and the recipient of Samford University’s Presidential Scholarship.

Others who set the pace for performance were our National Merit Finalist, Natalie Stroud and our Star Student, Matthew Franklin. Matthew is also a Commended student and the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship to attend The Univ. of Alabama.

83% of the class earned eligibility for the Georgia HOPE scholarship that can be used at state and private institutions within Georgia. Many of our seniors were offered scholarships through colleges and private organizations. Awards and scholarships offered to members of this class, if applied and maintained throughout the 4 year college experience have the potential value of app 1.6 million dollars.

Twenty-four of the seventy-two seniors graduated with Honors, signifying that they earned a 90 or above grade point average over the past 4 years of high school. Eighteen will graduate Honors with Distinction, having completed the most demanding curricula that is offered by our school. 31 of the 72 will graduate as members of the National Beta Club.

 

2003

The 76 graduates of the Class of 2003 are attending 24 different colleges & universities in nine states.

23% are attending colleges outside the State of Georgia including The University of Florida, University of Mississippi, Samford, Auburn University, LSU, Brevard, Liberty, Tennessee Tech, and Middle Tennessee.  One of our graduates will be entering the navy nuclear engineering program at Charleston.

Of the 77% remaining in Georgia they will attend 11 different colleges and universities with University of Georgia, Valdosta, Georgia Southern and Georgia College being the most popular.

We have three Georgia Scholars and two Star Students.  82% of the class has earned eligibility for the Georgia HOPE scholarship.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has recognized five students of the Class of 2003 for their outstanding performance on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test, two as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists and three as commended students.

2002

The 70 graduates of the Class of 2002 are attending 23 different colleges & universities in six states.

  • 14% are attending colleges outside the State of Georgia
  • 94% are attending four-year colleges
  • 06% are attending two-year colleges

The 2002 Star Student of FPD was also the Star Student for Bibb County and a recipient of the Herff Jones Principal’s Leadership Award.

The  53 graduates of the Class of 2001 are attending 22 different colleges and universities in seven states

  • 96.0% are attending four-year colleges
  • 4.0% are attending two-year colleges

2000

The  55 graduates of the Class of 2000 are attending 24 different colleges and universities in seven states

  • 27.0% are attending colleges outside the state of Georgia
  • 93.0% are attending four-year colleges
  • 7.0% are attending two-year colleges

1999

The 65 graduates of the Class of 1999 are attending 23 different colleges and universities:

  • 26.2% are attending colleges outside the state of Georgia
  • 3.1% are attending colleges outside the United States
  • 98.5% are attending four-year colleges
