State Meet
@ Stratford Academy, Saturday, October 19th
On Saturday morning at Stratford Academy, the FPD boys capped their
undefeated season with a State Championship while placing four
members (Kelley Sanders, Scott Cope, Jonathan
Anderson, and Chad Bacon) on the All-State Team.

we were victorious today is team depth. Our 5th, 6th
& 7th (John Tankard, Matt Ozment, & Joby Peake) runners
beat the Riversideís 4th runner. That was the difference.
The members of our team worked hard all summer to make this day
possible.î

The girls team completed their
season with a third place finish and established themselves as the
top team in Middle Georgia. Erin Colunga earned All-State
honors by finishing 4th overall.

Region 2-AAA Meet @ Georgia Children's Home, Monday, October 14th
The day started out well for the Vikings as 44 elementary and JV
runners dominated the field. The final score was FPD 44 runners -
Region 2-AAA 0.
The Varsity girls ran their best times of the season, but came up
short losing to CFCA in a tie-breaker. Erin Colunga
established a new school and region record with her winning time of
20:51. Erin and four other FPD girls(4th Greer Hawkins 22:24,
8th Kathryn Guzzardo 23:08, and 10th Amanda Crosby
23:33) were in the top ten and earned All-Region honors.
The Varsity boys remain undefeated and won their third
consecutive Region Championship. Kelley Sanders won and set a
new school and region record with his winning time of 16:59.
Other Viking runners on the All-Region team were 2nd Chad
Bacon 17:32, 3rd Scott Cope 17:59, 4th Jonathan
Anderson 18:14, 7th John Tankard 18:26, 8th Matt
Ozment 18:44, and 9th Joby Peake 18:49.

Vinson Valley, Wednesday, October 9th
The Viking boys and girls won again at Vinson Valley on Wednesday.
Erin Colunga and Greer Hawkins placed in the top
ten for the girls and Kelley Sanders, Chad Bacon,
Scott Cope, Jonathan Anderson, and John Tankard
finished in the top ten for the boys.
Kelley's time of 17:01 established a new school record.

Riverside Military Academy Invitational, Saturday, October 4th
The Vikings & Lady Vikings Varsity
Cross Country teams SWEPT the 31st Annual
Riverside Invitational last weekend.
The Lady Vikings won their
first meet of the season, defeating region rivals Mt. de Sales and
Central Fellowship in the process. Erin Colunga (21:41) won
the meet, for her second individual victory of the season and
Greer Hawkins (23:14) finished 5th overall for her 6th
consecutive meet in the top 10. Team depth rewarded the team when
Stephanie Alexander (25:08), Amanda Crosby (25:13) and
Kathryn Guzzardo (25:38) finished 12th - 14th overall. Alecia
Taylor (25:47) and Mallory Tribble (26:52) also finished
strong, coming in 17th and 26th overall. The Varsity girls now look
to the Region Meet on Monday, October 14th at the Georgia Children's
Home.
The FPD boys remained
undefeated with their win Saturday, and hopefully gained
momentum as the season comes to a close. Team depth provided the
victory once again with six runners finishing in the top 10 and
seven in the top 12. They were led by (2nd) Kelley Sanders
(17:18),(4th) Chad Bacon (17:46), (5th) Scott Cope
(18:24), (6th) John Tankard (18:30), (7th) Jonathan
Anderson (18:36), (10th) Matt Ozment (18:55), and (12th)
Joby Peake (19:03).
The FPD teams will participate
in their last regular season meet on Wednesday, October 9th at
Vinson Valley at 4:30 PM. The Region Meet is Monday, October 14th at
the Georgia Children's Home at 4:30 PM and the season will conclude
with the State Meet at Stratford on Saturday, October 19th at 10:00
AM.
Meet 5 @Stratford
Academy, Saturday, September 28th
On Saturday, September
28th, the FPD boys accomplished something extremely rare in Cross
Country at Stratford, scoring a perfect 15. Actually, the Vikings
had the first six finishers in Kelley Sanders (18:38), Chad
Bacon (19:26), Scott Cope (19:41), Jonathan Anderson (19:54),
Matt Ozment (20:27), and Joby Peake (20:42). Kelley
Sanders established a course record at Stratford Academy with
his time of 18:38 and was named Macon Telegraph Cross Country runner
of the week in the process.
The FPD Girls
continued to improve with Greer Hawkins (25:10) and Amanda
Crosby (27:01) finishing in the top ten overall. The Lady
Vikings continue to focus on the upcoming Region 2-AAA Meet on
Monday, October 14th at the Georgia Children's Home.
On Saturday, October
5th, the Viking teams will face their greatest test of the season at
the Riverside Military Invitational in Gainesville, GA.
Meet 4 @
Augusta Prep, Monday, September 23rd.
The FPD Boys remain undefeated for
the season with their win over defending State Champion Augusta Prep
on Wednesday. The Vikings took eight of the top ten places
and were led by Kelley Sanders, who tied Nick Morgan's
school record with a sizzling 17:09. Chad Bacon (18:06)
finished third and was followed by Jonathan Anderson (18:50),
Matt Ozment (18:59), John Tankard (19:21), Joby
Peake (19:31), Hunter Causey (19:52) and Brian Woods
(19:52.5) to round out the Top Ten.
The Girls were led by a pair of
class records from eighth grader Erin Colunga (22:17) and
senior Greer Hawkins (22:58) who finished fifth and eighth
overall. The girls continue to show solid improvement as Amanda
Crosby established a new PR in 24:24, and Kathryn Guzzardo
(24:33) and Stephanie Alexander (25:54) continue to recover
from injuries.
Meet 3 @
The Heritage School, Wednesday, September 18th.
The Cross Country teams continued
their success on Wednesday afternoon at The Heritage School in
Newnan, GA.
The Varsity Girls were once
again led by senior Greer Hawkins who finished seventh
overall and posted her fastest time of the season in 23:49. Greer
was followed closely by sophomore Amanda Crosby who finished
tenth overall and ran a 24:55. The Lady Vikings finished third in
the meet and look forward parlaying their individual success into
team victories as the season continues.
The Varsity Boys remained
undefeated as they outdistanced second place Mt. deSales 18 to
61! Individual finishers in the Top Ten overall were 1st Kelley
Sanders (17:39), 2nd Chad Bacon (17:51), 3rd Scott
Cope (18:34), 4th Jonathan Anderson (18:50), 8th Matt
Ozment (19:13), 9th John Tankard (19:25), and 10th
Joby Peake (19:27). That's SEVEN of the TOP TEN
finishers!!!

Meet 2
@ Stratford Academy, Saturday, September 14th.
The Vikings were not slowed by
rain on Saturday as they turned in impressive performances at the
state course despite soggy conditions. The team performances
mirrored last week, with the girls once again finishing third, only
four points behind defending State Champion Central Fellowship, and
the boys defeating defending State Champion Augusta Prep by 56
points.
The Lady Vikings were led by
8th grader Erin Colunga (24:30) and senior Greer Hawkins
who finished second and fourth overall respectively. Sophomore
Kelley Sanders won his first race of the season in 18:57 and
Chad Bacon (19:00), Scott Cope (19:44), Jonathan
Anderson (20:18), John Tankard (20:46), Matt Ozment
(20:52), and Joby Peake (21:07) all finishing in the top
eleven.
The Vikings travel to Newnan,
GA to face Heritage on Wednesday, September 18th at 4:30.
