| RECORD BREAKERS April 22 Congratulations to Kelsey Black and Laura Harris who on the same night broke the girls career scoring record. The goals came in a big 10-0 region win against Tattnall Square Academy. The previous career record of 71 goals was held by FPD standout Holly Long '06. Kelsey is currently the GISA scoring leader with 30 goals and has a career total of 77 goals. Harris is 4th in the GISA with 21 and now has 74 for her career. Both Kelsey and Laura are juniors. Kelsey also broke the career assists record (46) in the Tattnall match. She now has 50 for her career. The previous record was held by Stacia Dykes '03. Several other season and career records should be broken in th 2007-08 season. GO VIKINGS! |
RECORD BREAKERS May 5 Sara Elise Ham has continued the record breaking season in 2008.With her team leading 14 steals on the final regular season match against Tattnall, Ham now has 228 steals in 2008. The previous record of 218 was held by FPD standout Holly Long "06. Sara Elise has also helped the varsity team to break the school record for steals in a season. The previous record was 1764 steals achieved by the 2005 varsity squad. The 2008 team now has 1892 and the playoffs will help add to that total. The Vikings have many players approaching the 200 steals mark including Laura Harris (194), Melissa Hash (175) and Kendall Goodman (177). GO VIKINGS! |
| Vikings go undefeated in 2008 Stratford Cup FPD varsity girls completed an undefeated Stratford Cup and finished second overall in the tournament. The team posted a 5-1 win over 2 time defending South Carolina State Champion Hilton Head Prep. In round 2 the Vikings defeated St. Josephs from Greenville, SC 4-0 and tied GISA AAA rival Westminster 1-1. Kelsey Black was named the tournament MVP by the opposing coaches. The Vikings got a lot of confidence for the tournament after posting a 5-1 win over Region 2AAA rival Stratford Academy. The win was the largest over the Eagles in the longstanding rivalry between the 2 programs |
REGION CHAMPIONS! The 2007 FPD varsity team is the 2007 Region 2AAA Champions! The Vikings have secured the #1 seed for their bracket in the GISA AAA playoffs and will have a first round bye. FPD will host the semifinal round on Thursday, May 3 against North Cobb Christian at 7:00. The Eagles won their first round match in an overtime shootout with Central Fellowship 6-2. FPD beat North Cobb at the Dominion Shootout early this seaon. This is the second consecutive Region Championship for the varsity squad. Go Vikings! |
| Vikings play for 2008 B-Team Showcase Championship The JV Vikings played some of their best soccer to date at the B-Team Showcase tournament hosted by FPD. The Vikings went 2-1 on the day and made it to the championship match. The game was very exciting and Mount De Sales eventually won 1-0. The Vikings defeated Gatewood 5-0 and Deerfield 1-0 to make the championship match. The JV team sits at an impressive 8-3-1 on the 2008 season. Congratulations to all the players and coaches of the JV girls program. |
STATE CHAMPIONS The 2007 varsity soccer team won the AAA State Championship with a 1-0 overtime win against Mount De Sales Academy. The match was controlled by the Vikings but there was no scoring in the match until sophomore Kelsey Black put away a goal with just 26 seconds left in the first overtime. Senior goalkeeper Ansley Teipel helped keep the match even until then. |
